Try it in your browser

This page runs the real DevKit, with its practice ABDM, inside your browser. Click each step in order. For every step you will see:

  • You send and You get back: the exact HTTP request your app makes to the DevKit’s REST API, and the reply. Your app would do the same.
  • Dashed boxes: messages between the DevKit and ABDM behind the scenes, including what ABDM sends you and what you must reply.

Everything uses made-up data and stays in your browser. Long encrypted values are shortened so the shape is easy to read.

In this practice run, the patient will:
  1. 1

    Your app

    Prepare a consent request

  2. 2

    Your app

Your user approves, the DevKit sends it to ABDM

  3. 3

    Patient

    The patient decides

  4. 4

    Your app

    Prepare a record fetch

  5. 5

    Your app

    Your user approves the fetch

  6. 6

    Hospital

    The hospital sends the records

  • Nothing reaches ABDM until a person approves. Step 1 only prepares; step 2 sends.
  • ABDM answers later, by calling you. Every ABDM message must get a 202 Accepted reply straight away. In production the callback bridge does this, so nothing is lost.
  • The patient decides what is shared. Try “approve prescriptions only” or “refuse” above and watch the fetch change or get refused.
  • The records arrive encrypted and only the DevKit can open them, using a key made for that one transfer. See Encryption.
